WILLIAM C. ASHBROOK, of Bay Village, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and accomplished attorney passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012. He was 89. A devoted husband of the late Carol (nee Thayer); loving father of Mark, Scott (Margo), Todd and Burt (Hope); loving grandfather to Dawn, Kristen, Jordan, Mackenzie, Michael and Zachary; brother of Dean (Shirley); uncle to Michael, David and Craig. Lovingly cared for by the many dedicated employees of Bradley Bay Health Center. Bill was born in Alliance, OH on June 14, 1922 and a graduate of Mount Union College 1940-1942 and 1946-1948 with a Psychology Major and a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. While attending in 1940 to 1942, Bill played basketball for the Mount Union Purple Raiders who won the 1941-1942 State and Ohio Conference Championships. The championship picture still hangs in the Office of Alumni Relations and University Activities. Also, while attending Mount Union in the years of 1946 to1948, Bill was part of the 880 relay team breaking the field record twice. Bill voluntarily enlisted with the US Marine Corps serving with the 2nd Marine Division under the V Amphibious Corps during WWII engaging in the Battles of Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian from 1943 through 1945. After graduating from Mount Union College in 1948, Bill attended and received his JD from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in March 1954. He was an attorney with Allstate Insurance Company until he retired. Bill practiced law for almost 50 years. Funeral Service in the Funeral Home Tuesday February 21 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
