Roy H. Canterbury "Sonny", age 68, of Lorain passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Roy was born on July 25, 1944 in Corton, West Virginia to Lloyd and Parma (nee Parker) Canterbury.
He attended Brookside High School. Roy began working for the Nordson Corporation in 1968 as a material handler, retiring in 2006 after 38 years of service. After retiring he worked part time at Mullinax Ford. For many years he escorted funerals, a service he really enjoyed providing.
He loved Hot Rods and really enjoyed watching all the car shows on television. Old time rock and roll, especially Doo-Wop was his favorite music to listen to.
Roy is survived by his wife of 18 years, Renate (nee Olbryschewski) Canterbury; sons, James Canterbury, of Utah and Shawn (Sarah) Canterbury, Of Carlisle Twp.; step-sons, Thomas (Nicole) Starr, of Corpus Christi, TX and Raymond (Kristine) Starr, of Lorain; grandchildren, Sebastian Canterbury, stationed in Korea with the United States Air Force, Tyler Canterbury, of Carlisle Twp.; step-grandson, Mason Starr, of Lorain; step-granddaughters, Erin Starr and Erica Uhse, both of Corpus Christ, TX.
