Rodney James Dalen the son of Irven and Margaret (Westergard) Dalen was born October 26, 1955 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 57.

Rodney received his education in Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1973.

Following high school, Rodney worked for his dad at Dalen Farm Equipment. He then worked for J.D. Webb John Deere, C & L Construction and for the past 23 years he was employed with Superior Elevator. For hobbies, Rodney enjoyed golfing, slow pitch softball, hunting, fishing, his yearly trip to Canada, NASCAR, Minnesota Vikings, story telling and entertaining his nieces and nephews. Uncle Rodney, as referred to by many, loved his family and friends.

Left to cherish Rodney's memory are his mother, Margaret Dalen of Graettinger; siblings, Irlan (Terry) Dalen of Estherville; Francene Johnson of Sheldon, Iowa; Larry Dalen of San Diego, California; Jerry Dalen of Estherville; Marlene (Daniel) Nitchals of Mason City, Iowa; Ivan (Denise) Dalen of Graettinger; Brenda (Dennis) Moore of Wallingford; nieces and nephews, Aaron (Kristi) Johnson; April (Jerry) Goebel; Jody (Teresa) Dalen; Jason Dalen and his fiance, Nicole Friesner; Haley Dalen; Logan Dalen; Sarah (Jerrad) Dirksen; Samantha Nitchals; Stephanie Dalen and her fiance, Ryan Craig; Michael, Tyler, and Kyle Dalen; Jessica (Mikkel) Mortel; Jennifer Moore and Joe Moore; and many great nieces and nephews and friends.

He has been preceded in death by his father, Irven Dalen and brother-in-law, James Johnson.
