Marilyn J. Pressnell (nee Hogrefe), 75, of Avon Lake passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Thursday, February 9 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center in Lorain.

She was born November 7, 1936 in Amherst and resided in Avon Lake for over 50 years. Marilyn graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst. She was a homemaker, a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Avon Lake Post Polio support group. She volunteered with the Board of Elections and was an Ombudsman at Avon Oaks Nursing Home. Marilyn loved spending time with her family and friends and she was very active with her church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Howard M. Her four sons; James (Linda) of Lake Oswego, OR; Robert (Leslie) of Lakewood; Michael (Julie) of Grafton; and Andrew (Robbin) of Madison, WI; 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Ruth Weiland of Westlake; and 5 brothers; Paul of Olmsted Falls; Wayne (Olga) of Lorain; Howard H. (Betty) of Brownhelm Township; Carl (Linda) of Beavercreek, OH; and Kenneth (Gwen) of Avon. Marilyn is preceded in death by her brother Melvin and her parents Fred and Frieda (nee Kunkle) Hogrefe.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake from 1-4 pm and 6-9 pm Monday, February 13 and 1 hour prior to the funeral service at church. Funeral services 10 am, Tuesday, February 14 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 32747 Lake Road, Avon Lake with Reverend David Connor presiding. Interment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
