Marie Cullen, age 95, formerly of Ft. Madison, died surrounded by her 3 daughters, in Springfield, MO, on December 31, 2012. She had been in failing health for 4 months.
Marie was born near New London, IA on February 25, 1917, to Leroy and Florence Collins Foggy. She married Joseph Cullen in Ft. Madison on August 30, 1940. Joe died on May 16, 2000 and Marie moved to Springfield, MO IN 2002. Marie was a member of Santa Fe United Methodist Church and a member of the Ft. Madison's Women's Club. She was an accomplished seamstress not only making many beautiful Easter, prom and bridesmaid dresses for her 3 daughters but also creating period costumes for the FMHS musical, The Unsinkable Molly Brown in 1968. Marie's greatest joy and source of pride was her family.
Marie is survived by 3 daughters: Donna Lang (Roger), of Marion Iowa, Pam Teeter of Springfield, MO, and Tina O'Toole of Brentwood, MO.; grandchildren: Sheri Lang Stallings (Lowery), of Louisville KY, David Lang (Kimberly), of Ft. Myers, FL, Gregory Lang, of Hiawatha, IA, Matt Teeter (Mindy), of Springfield, MO, Shannon O'Toole Kuhlman (Kyle) of Kirkwood, MO, Ryan O'Toole (Minerva), of University City, MO, Kate O'Toole of Kirkwood, MO. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren with her 10th due on January 2nd as well as her sister Gertrude Mahaffey, of Springfield, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, son, David, granddaughter, Ashley Teeter, her parents and siblings, Jenny Foggy, Harold (Sonny) Foggy, Frances Watson, Virginia Foggy, and Elizabeth Fetterman.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Brenda Goodall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Diabetes Association or to a charity of choice.
