Kenneth L. Ward, 84, of Kokomo, passed away at 8:52 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his residence. Born October 24, 1928 in Louisville, KY, he is the son of the late Harry L. Ward and Mary Daniel (Reddicks) Ward. On October 3, 1948 in Ashland, KY,, he married Marie E. Leonard, and she survives. He worked at L&N Railroad in Louisville, KY, Brock Electric in New Albany, IN, Courier Journal Lithography in Louisville, Civil Service in Jeffersonville, was an Army Veteran serving at Ft Knox, also a Coast Guard veteran serving in Alaska. He then was an electrician with Delco Electronics for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He was former member of Beamer United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir, sang in Quartets, also sang solos; served on the Pastor Parish Committee, Finance Committee, also was a trustee. He was currently a member of the Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church and a member of U.A.W. Local #292. He enjoyed listening to Christian Music.
Survivors include his wife Marie E. Ward of Kokomo; two sons David Lee (Patty) Ward of Lantana, TX, Jack E. (Christine) Ward of Newton, MA; two daughters Linda Marie Schonbachler of Valpraiso, IN, Rosanne Faye (Dave) Klinker of Ft. Wayne; two sisters Beverly Snapp of Jeffersonville, IN and Peggy Huff of Chillicothe, OH. There are also 10 grandchildren Amanda Ward Noday, John Ward, Justin Springer, Lindsey Springer, Mia Ward, Donielle Ward, Rachel Harvey, Rosalee Harvey, Ryan Harvey, and Evan Dyer, 5 great grandchildren Kiley Jo Noday, Cash Noday, Emerson Springer, Gabriel Springer, and Gavin Harvey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Larry Ward, also one sister Doris Belke.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday in Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastors Kevin T. Miller and Joe Hogsett will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church or to the Gideons. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
