Janet Lynn Darby left our world and joined her God, Sunday morning December 30, 2012. She was born May 24, 1967 in Watertown, New York.

The family, along with her older brother Harold, Jr., returned to her mother's home town, Austin, Texas in 1971. While attending LBJ High School her basketball team captured bi-district, district, and area championships.

Janet also played college basketball while attending Tarleton State University, majoring in Marketing. She returned home, began working at Sears and met Fritz Tutein. They maintained a long term relationship. Jahlil, now a gifted athlete, is the son of Janet and Fritz. Her last employment was with Velocity Credit Union.

She enjoyed following her son and the LBJ basketball teams - always there cheering on, encouraging and working in whatever capacity needed. Janet was a passionate supporter and could hold her own in conversing regarding sports with the best of the jocks…

Her friendships remained constant through the years. She was a loyal friend whose quick sense of humor drew others to her.

Janet is survived by her mother, Joanne Jones; son, Jahlil Tutein; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Darby, Jr.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar.
