Gaylia Vanessa Chambers was born on April 22, 1957 in Dallas County to the late Vance Preston Matthews and Willie Oneta Wedgeworth and passed away on December 2, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Gaylia attended Kemp schools in her early childhood before moving to the Dallas area. Gaylia was the light of the world to her family and an extraordinary homemaker to her husband and three daughters. Gaylia enjoyed traveling and everywhere her husband Roger went Gaylia went. Gaylia enjoyed traveling to casinos and trying her luck at the slot machines or camping and fishing with her family. Gaylia gave of herself endlessly at her three daughters and grandchildren's school functions. Gaylia attended every drill team event, school play, field trip and award assembly as well as maintain a very close relationship with her sisters as well. Gaylia found great joy in three-way calling as so she could keep up with the latest gossip and gab of her siblings. Gaylia was a wonderful cook and passed on her cooking recipes and techniques to her daughters as well.
Gaylia is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Steve Preston Matthews. Gaylia is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Roger Chambers and her three daughters; Brandy Crecy and husband, Chad of Mesquite, Carrie Tarkington and husband, Aaron of Forney and Crystal Bolin and husband, Robert of Garland. Gaylia (Na Na) also is loved and cherished by her 8 grandchildren; Eric, Little Chad, Kali, Meagan, Tyler, Jordan, Calion and Abbigail. Gaylia will be greatly missed by her brother, David Matthews of Dallas and her three sisters; Patsy Tijernia and husband, Monico of Kaufman, Joyce Bednar and husband, John of Kemp, Yvonne Carrier and husband, Gary of Seagoville, very special cousin, Tootsie, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
