David J. Ferro, age 66, a resident of Elyria for the past 12 years and formerly of Seven Hills, passed away December 2, 2012. He was born August 27, 1946 in Cleveland to the late Andrew and Marie (nee Fenda) Ferro.
A 1964 graduate of St. Edward High School, David served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was emplolyed as Chief of Security at Cleveland Hopkins Airport for 17 years. David was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and the Elyria VFW. He enjoyed working on old cars, music and spending time with his family.
Survivors include many cousins including beloved cousin, Mary (Stewart) Lovece of Brooklyn Hts. and their daughter, Katherine; dear friend, Shirley Pluta of Elyria; brother, James of Cape Coral, FL; and nephew, Brian.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-6 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday with prayers at 8:45 a.m. and proceed to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 708 Erie Street, Grafton, for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Fr. John Seabold will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to NAMI, 2012 West 25th Street #600, Cleveland, OH 44113.
