Edward W. McGrath Funeral & Cremation Service
Ed McGrath was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and is a graduate of John Carroll University. He began his career in funeral service while in high school, working for the Joseph C. Schulte Funeral Home on Cleveland’s East Side. While attending college, he continued working, first at the Flynn-Froelk Funeral Home in East Cleveland, and later at the Corrigan Funeral Homes on Cleveland’s’ West Side. In 1970 he continued pursuing what was to be his lifelong commitment to funeral service when he joined the Powell-Searles-Bassett Funeral Home in North Royalton, working with John Powell and Ed and Avis Bassett, and obtaining his Funeral Directors license in 1973.He founded the Edward W. McGrath Funeral Service at that time, and continues to serve the community.
Marie McGrath was born and raised in Staten Island, NY, and is a graduate of Wagner College. After a successful career in the telecommunications industry, she joined the company in 2006, bringing with her valuable customer service and managerial skills. She obtained her Funeral Directors License in 2008.
Our philosophy is simple: The Family Makes the Difference. The most important part of a family owned and operated funeral service is the family itself. Friends turn to us in their time of need the way they turn to any trusted friend. We are a 24 hour, seven day a week profession. Our first priority is the families we serve, so we offer a variety of service options.
As a family-owned and operated local business, we understand the dynamics of our community. Having been a part of our community for many years, and watching many changes take place, one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to the families that we serve, treating each of our families as we would like to be treated, as we help them deal with difficult times and sometimes difficult decisions.
Marie and Ed are active in the community, as well as their profession. They are active in the Ohio and Cuyahoga Funeral Directors Associations, American Legion Post 703, Parma Moose Lodge 1744, Parma Elks Lodge 1938, as well as St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church.
