i am sad to read of J.W.'s passing. I was a youngster when we met at Zipp City Baptist Church in Zipp City.(now Balch Springs) He dated my deceased sister a short time and i had to go on their dates with them...LOL He came to church often with his then friend, Marvin Jones. He was always nice to me and always wondered what happened to him. He was a very nice kid.

Bert, So many good things come with knowing this man. I will never forget
the day my dad came home with a horse
named Midnight, a black and white paint.
She took over a 100 first place trophies,
thanks to you and JW. The Lord will bless him in Heaven.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mathis when I was in Junior High school and became friends with his daughter, Sam. From the moment I met this man I knew he was a family man. He cherished his wife and daughters and would stop at nothing to make sure they had everything that they needed. When I would go to his house for sleep overs with Sam, he always welcomed me and treated me as if I were one

So wish I could be there with you. Precious memories will always be ours. He loved his girls above all and yes that includes his wife. Walk with God and he will help you through all strife. I love all of his girls too. A. Nellie
