Memories & Candles
So many memories. I met Kate in 1987 when she started in Physics at the UofM. She had the best sense of humor of anyone I have ever known. Have a special memory of Kate, Barb Nieman and I going to Disney one year. Very special time together. She would come to my home in Petersburg quite often and we would go to eat in Toledo during UofM/Ohio State football game. Went to Chilis restaurant and always had the young man that would wear an Ohio State tie :)I will miss her so much. Deepest sympathy to her family.

Jamie, David & Dan, my heart is heavy and my prayers are with you all. May you be comforted at this sad time. Katie was one in a million. I never met anyone, except for you, Jamie that could find humor in everything. Every day was like a little party. I so enjoyed the few times that I was lucky enough to spend with both of you. You always made me feel like family and the memories will remain in my heart. God bless you and keep you. Love you, Colleen

Kate and I had some great times together. We even took a trip to Walt Disney World with another friend of ours (Mary Ann Gorr) one year, and the 3 of us had the best time. Kate and I worked together in Physics at the U/M for almost 15 years and enjoyed ourselves there. We also had one other thing in common - we shared October birthdays. She was one wonderful person and I, along with lots of other people will miss her tremendously. A lady like her is hard to replace in life. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Kate will be indeed be missed; the world will not be the same without her. I didn't know her well, but I know full well that she shaped my mother in glorious ways through the years, and through her faithful and fun-filled friendship. My mother is the woman, friend, sister and mother she is, largely, because of who Kate and Jamie were, and are to her. My heart breaks, and my prayers are uttered for Kate's grieving friends and family.

I knew Kate as a cheerful and capable member of the Physics department computer support team. She had a contagious smile and a wonderful spirit. Condolences to the friends, family, and loved ones she leaves behind.

The years I worked with Kate were the best times I had at any job... a group of us became like family, in every good and maybe bad way -- we'd all pick on each other, but no one else better dare say anything bad about any of us to anyone else of us. Kate could come up with a witty comeback at any time.
And she was so good-hearted. These last few years I was so glad that Facebook made

I knew Kate through her various positions at UM Physics. I am saddened to hear of her passing. As was said in her obituary, she always had a laugh and a smile for the good things around her. The world will miss that. We will miss that.
