Memories & Candles
Mr Rooney, was my fourth grade teacher at Fitzgerald School, Waltham.
I had some disabilities, including being hearing impaired. Because of these challenges, I needed assistance outside the classroom. Mr Rooney was very accommodating to this need.
During class I found Mr Rooney to be quite "engaging"...He loved teaching and making the subjects interesting to us students.
Some examples: He would move about the front of class and suddenly point to one of us. "6x8!", he would exclaim...And that individual

I worked with Paul from 1965-1970in the sales dept. at Ark-Les Switch in Watertown. Paul was great at everything he did. We all enjoyed his wit and humor. R.I.P. my friend. Donald Hansenh

Martha and Stephen, it is with great sadness that I have learned of my "Rooney"'s passing. Your Dad and Mom were my second set all those summers in Marshfield. I have always held Kite Lady and Rooney in my heart as I have you both. Mom and Dad (Margi and Bob) send their love and prayers along with mine. Never let the music die, and remember when the wood burns blue in the fire place its Pirates Blood....

Steve and family, I just happened to find this by mistake. The pictures are fantastic. I only met your parents a couple of times. They were such a beautiful couple-they looked like they loved each other very much and just belonged together. I wish I could have found out earlier and possibly been there to support you and give you a hug and a kiss and my shoulder to cry on if neccesary, I miss you a lot and hope

Mr. Rooney was by far my all time favorite teacher. His knack for making learning fun has always been one of the most precious memories of my childhood. I will never forget the days that "Grover" came to school to visit. Although we were all 10 years old at that time, the excitement of Grover couldn't be contained. So many times those visits were accompanied by ice cream that his wife would bring in on hot days. 25 sweaty fourth
